Rob was the second son of Christopher Darius Gorman and Mary Allen Rogers U.E., he had an older brother named Leonard and sister named Lillian. He also had a younger brother, Halbert and two younger sisters named Mary and Pearl.   Robert was named after his great great granduncle Col. Robert Rogers of Rogers' Rangers. His great great grandfather was Col James Rogers UEL (United Empire Loyalist) of Rogers' Rangers and the Queens Rangers.

He grew up in Wisconsin, at 21, on July 15, 1897 he married Rosa Cathern Loomis in Spring Valley, Wisconsin.  They had 6 children I know of, Helen, Vernon who died at 6 years, my grandfather Leland "Teddy", Margarete (3rd from right in picture below) , Trenna and Kathleen.  Rob and Cathern were married for 69 years, Cathern out lived Rob and passed away two and a half years later in 1969.

I can still hear old Gumpy belting out a big ole "WHOOPEE!!!!", he made his own wine, which he claimed contributed to his longevity. I was only 9 when great grandpa died, but remember him well. He came to visit when we lived in Mountain View, California and we all went to the Air Show at Moffitt Field to see the Blue Angels, my dad would would tell him here they come and before he could turn around they had already passed.  The Picture on the right in his last year is at a family reunion at Bolado Park near Hollister, California in 1966 with grand ole Gumpy and Cathern sitting in front, I am standing over his right shoulder in front of my parents. Aside from my father the two gentlemen in the right of the picture are Rob's grandsons Vernon (above Cathern) and Ron (right end).   On the Far left is Leona the 2nd wife of Rob's son Leland (my grandfather).  The other ladies in the picture from left to right starting with my mother Arlene (in light blue above Rob) then Rob's granddaughter Joanie (daughter of Margarete), Vern's first wife Esther, Rob's daughter Margarete, and Ron's wife Mary.  My brother Ron is standing next to me, my sister Danna in front of Rosa and Vern's daughter Leslie in front of Vern, I personally do not know who the other cousins are in the picture and don't know where my brother Bruce was hiding.
